Day Three

We're three days in, be sure to spend some time with God today. Here are my thoughts on Exodus 2:1-10.
  • First, as a parent, I don't know how Moses' Mother did it. She was supposed to drown her son according to the law of the land. Instead she put him in a basket and sent him down the river. Now we read this with hindsight, thinking maybe she knew that her son would be ok. On the contrary, this must have been horible for her. She place a baby afloat not knowing what would happen. She might have hoped and prayed that God would show mercy, but she didn't know what would happen. What an incredible faith? The question I ask myself here, would I be willing to release my children into God's hand? Do I try to control what happens to my kids?
  • Next, Pharaoh's daugher. I'm not sure what was going on in her mind. It says she felt sorry for the baby. Maybe she was unaware of what decree her father had set on the Hebrew people. Perhaps she was a rebellious child who thought, "I'll show my father!" I just don't know what caused her to do what she did(the Spirit of God is my Sunday School answer).
  • Finally, the sister. What a brave girl. Again, maybe her mother sent her, or she was determined to make sure her brother was safe. She could have had plans to get him out herself. What we do know is that she was bold enough to approach the Pharaoh's daughter and make plan to get her brother back in her home. Not only did this happen, the family got paid to raise ther own child. This speaks to me in the area of boldness. How bold am I in the times I need to be? Sometimes I overthink consequences, this girl through caution to the wind and stepped up to the plate.

Those are just a few thoughts. I welcome your thoughts on the subject and would love to hear from some of you about how family worship is going. Please email me any stories or testimonies about how God is working in your family.
