Now when i read this passage I can't help but think of how foolish the Pharaoh is acting. His people get the plague, he tells Moses to ask God to remove the plague, Moses does so, Pharaoh refuses to keep his word to Moses. At first glance I have to say, this man is insane. Then I think of the many times I have prayed for something and bargained with God. God came through, but did I? Sometimes yes, but many times no!
Here's the deal with these next few days in the devotion. We are really going to be looking at a picture of ourself and our selfish desires vs. God's desire for us. We'll be tempted to blow it off and point fingers at the rediculous pharaoh, but it's really us God wants to speak to. So try this. Over the next few days, as you read the devotions about the plagues, think about your life, past and present. Ask God to reveal to you, your stubborness. I know we all think were very obedient, but let's be honest, if we have much to lose we can be just like pharaoh.
