Day 3: The People asked for a king and God provided Saul. Does God sometimes allow us to get what we ask for even if it's not in His perfect plan for us?
Today's study is a great day to discuss God and His word. Here we have the Israelites asking for something that will not be good for them. God gives them what they ask for. This doesn't fit our nice theology about God. It's like a teenager asked their dad if they can put their hand in the fire and the dad says, "Sure." That doesn't fit my paradigm of what I want from God. The bottom line however, is that God gives us the will to choose Him or reject Him. He knows the outcome of each choice and through His word has revealed to us the same. In this case the Israelites rejected God, and He allowed them to do so. They were caught up in what the world around had, and they were wanting the same things. They took their focus off God and put it on the world and their desires changed. How often is that true today of us?
This passage has much for us to discuss with our kids at home, so let's take time today to do that!

Yea i like when God does that, he lets us learn from our mistakes and then just lets us come back pretty much no questions asked its pretty awesome. I can just see him sitting there going wow Riley you're such an idiot, i know he doesn't but i think it'd be funny if he did.
